One of my D&D players dropped out and my campaign is supposed to start tomorrow. We've been getting this game together for more than a year so I'm still going to run it. I just need a new player.

Requirements:
Game will be played in Waterdeep, Faerun, Forgotten Realms Setting with backstory of several other campaigns.
*Players must own their own dice and preferably their own 3.5 Player's Handbook since that's the system I'm using.
*Player must be willing to play a non-evil cleric.
*Player must be willing to create three more "backup characters" to fill the players' adventuring guild roster. Pre-generated characters are only allowed if they follow one of four previously decided generation methods (eventually one character made with each method will be required).
*Player must not have played in too many games with my friends Gwen, Ryan, or Micah. If you are dating one of these people or have only ever played in games that included one of these people you are not who we are looking for. We want this player party to be a group of people with new characters who will not fall into routines that have been established out of game prior to this campaign.
*Characters must have a longterm goal of "Adventuring in Undermountain" and be primarily interested in taking part in an adventuring guild. This is a game for characters who like adventuring and dungeon crawling but aren't interested in saving or controlling/destroying the world.
*Character races allowed include only those listed within the player's handbook, the sun elf and Gold Dwarf from the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, and the custom race Twilight Elf (who are drow that have been freed from the "Curse of Lolth" and are trying to escape the legacy of the Underdark).

More information available on request.

Please RSVP if you live in the Portland area, I live between the Beaverton Creek MAX and the 57 bus Line. Rides may not always be available. Game is slated to run every other Saturday between noon and 5pm. "Starting" September 22nd, 2007 (this puts the next session on October 6th).

If I cannot find anyone soon I will make a similar post on the Kumoricon forums.
If I can't find anybody in the next two weeks I will resort to putting up a want add at local gaming stores. :(

I start to doze off every now and then at work while I wait for things to load and I daydream some surreal things based on what my brain hears going on around me. It's even worse when my eyes get puffy from allergies and whatnot. this week my right eye has been gooey almost all the time after I rubbed something into it at some point this weekend.

Today I had "When You're Evil" by Voltaire on my headphones and I imagined a community that the devil visit every day at lunch time and to maintain their honor as good host they always let him sit and eat with them. However the jewish members of the community always pull their table off to one side from the big picnic table the townsfolk sit down at. It isn't kosher to "eat with the devil".

I wondered about that. Why would that be, I thought Jewish dogma didn't have a "devil" or hell in he same sense as Christian dogma. Even if they did I know that certain foods and certain preparation methods are either kosher or not kosher, but what about eating with certain people? Are there kosher laws against "breaking bread" with certain people?
I can definitely imagine old testament laws forbidding association with widows or whores or murderers or people who eat meat off the bone. Are they real though?

I know a few jewish people (or people who just know stuff) read my LJ but the only one I would count on for answers is [livejournal.com profile] makkabee. Not to call him out or anything but hes the guy who answers a lot of my history questions and I figure he'd be able to contribute something on this one too. Why? The name "makkabee" should be enough of a clue.

Badass PSA, Gaming stuff, Bad puns, and TMI )

In case you guys haven't noticed, I'm now adding tags to my posts to make them easier to sort through. Right now I have Bad Jokes and Waterdeep. I plan on adding Vampire, Kumoricon, and Drama as well since that's what gets the ratings. I also might friends lock a few posts to reduce the wangst fallout that seems to be piling up.

Does anyone else remember me making this website?

http://www.geocities.com/loyalfanboy/waterdeep/index.html

I completely forgot about it. I was actually logging in to create it today when I found it was already there. Wow.

In DnD news, I will still be running the character creation at Micah's house tomorrow. At noon. Gwen is going to her grandmother's birthday party until early evening so she won't be there. Since we'll be missing a quarter of our players I hope to end the game early and go see Spiderman 3 so that I can see it with Vallie before she goes to Meg's house for the evening.

Kumoricon makes my gaming life so complicated.

I wish I'd worn more Red today. All I have on me is the chop on the back of my Kumoricon 2005 T-shirt. Sure, we Americans don't get to celebrate May Day because it would be unpatriotic. It would erode the control of the bourgeois business men who control our imperialist government. Instead, we in America have to wait until "Labor Day" to get a respite from the shackles that bind us to the capitalist machine. A far 4 months away. If they had moved it further it would have interfered with their religious holidays of foolish superstition. My only comfort is the Red Elvis' on my playlist and the knowledge that the bourgeois cannot take the freedom of my thoughts.

In order to distract me from my enslavement to the bourgeois capitalist machine, I shall write at length about my Role Playing Game.

Character Creation )

Nearly everyone in the game will have ties to one noble house or the other since nearly every way of being trained in a Player Class is controlled by the nobles. From the mercenary barracks to the wizard guild to the bard college. Monk and Cleric are pretty much the only ways to avoid any meddling from the nobility.

I'm gonna have to make a note sheet to keep track of NPCs. Like a NPC page to go with the Equipment, Level, and component sheets I've already printed out.

All this planning and I forgot about Free Comic Book day on Saturday!
So here's the deal. Things from Another World opens at 11 and I wanted to get everyone together at Micah's house at 11:30.
This means that I will need a ride over to the comics shop at 11 and then across town to Micah's immediately afterwards. The funny thing here is that half of my players have cars (another sold hers in October and I totally didn't know until last week), Micah and Gwen. From what I can tell Gwen will actually be on the other side of the comic's shop so I'm on her way to Micah's, but we'd backtrack a little to the comic's shop. Micah usually has the truck but we're a ways out of his way over in Beaverton. If Gwen hasn't actually moved yet then we're out of her way too.

I think that the best option is actually to have JAMIE pick me up since I'll be picking up the new Anita Blake comic for her that day as well and then she might get to read it before me.

I heard they were trying to get the rights to something else but the Dickens estate wouldn't cooperate.

Man, I am totally buying some new headphones this paycheck. Damn.
The big headphones I got from Vallie have a broken wire now so only the left speaker works. It wasn't bad at first because I have a lot of bad mp3s and old songs that mono vs stereo didn't matter. Now that I'm adding more from our CD collections though, oh man is it noticeable. I'm missing half the riffs in Hazy Shade of Winter and a lot of the background effects from Tenacious D. I want to find a big fat DJ pair though and Fred Meyer isn't going to cut it.
Any suggestions on where to go before I wander over to Best Buy?

Haiku thread on the Kumoricon forums is supposed to be just haiku form. Somebody broke the form in a post so I used this in part of my reply, it works well as its own haiku, I think.

Now you must suffer
The pain of the haiku bat!
Wham! Wham! Wham! Wham! Wham!

I think this happened in the Vampire game....
http://www.applegeeks.com/comics/viewcomic.php?issue=173
Ame prescribed this for Scott before he went into a woman's body.

Speaking of which, do you all remember how I said the Demon character Varadan is now in a cheerleader's body? Her name is Sandy McLandy and she looks like Claire Bennet for Heroes. Well last night on Heroes Claire was using a fake name.
What was the name?
SANDRA.

I'm hoping that I can get a print out of the above some time tonight from Ryan's computer. So that I can put it with all my notes that are currently on the table out front.
